Filters & Time Range

Dashboards in LineInterpreter support a filter bar that lets you narrow the data shown across all charts simultaneously. Filters are configured per dashboard by an editor and appear either on the left side (vertical) or along the top (horizontal) of the dashboard.

If the filter bar is collapsed, click the small arrow icon on the left edge of the dashboard to expand it. When open, all configured filters are shown as labelled controls. Changes take effect across every chart in scope as soon as you apply them.

Editors can add several types of filters to a dashboard:

TypeDescription
ValueA dropdown or multi-select that filters by the distinct values in a column (e.g. line name, product, category).
Time rangeA date/time range picker that restricts charts to a specific window.
Shift FilterA filter for selecting a shift or the live current shift. See below for full details.
DividerA visual separator with a title and optional description, used to organise a long filter bar.

The Shift Filter is a custom filter built for LineInterpreter dashboards. It filters all connected charts to exactly one shift’s worth of data — including the correct time range and line — and also sets the dashboard timezone to match the selected line.

When a Shift Filter is present on a dashboard, click on it to open the selection popover. There are two modes:

Selects the shift that is currently in progress on a given line.

  1. Choose Current Shift.
  2. Select a Line from the dropdown. The filter automatically resolves the most recently started shift for that line and applies its start time, end time, line ID, and timezone to all charts in scope.

Because the shift is live, the filter polls for updates so that charts stay current as new data arrives during the shift.

Selects a historical shift using a calendar.

  1. Choose Specific Shift.
  2. A calendar appears. Days that have recorded shifts are highlighted. Click a day to see the shifts that ran on that date.
  3. Click the shift you want to select.

The filter applies the selected shift’s exact start and end times, line, and timezone to all charts in scope.

Click the × icon on the filter control to clear the selection and return affected charts to their unfiltered state.

Each filter is configured with a scope that determines which charts it affects. By default a filter applies to all charts on all tabs. Editors can narrow the scope to specific charts or tabs so that one filter does not affect unrelated charts on the same dashboard.

Filters that are out of scope for the current tab are shown in a collapsed Filters out of scope section at the bottom of the filter bar.

  • Apply — filters are applied immediately when you select a value. For filters that require an explicit confirm step (such as the Shift Filter), click the Apply button inside the popover.
  • Clear a single filter — click the × on its control.
  • Clear all filters — use the Clear all button at the top of the filter bar (if shown by the dashboard editor).
